Jan Whitelaw began her work with David Peterson and the Ontario Liberal Research Office as a University of Waterloo political science and economics co-op student in 1984-85. She joined the Premier’s Office in September 1985 as a Policy Advisor and later rose to Senior Policy Advisor – Economic and Resource Policy through to September 1990. Jan established and directed the Liberal Policy and Research Office for Interim Opposition Leader Robert Nixon following the 1990 election. She subsequently co-chaired the Transition Team for Dalton McGuinty in 1999 and headed his Ministerial Staff Recruitment Secretariat in 2003 when he became Premier of a majority government. An appointee to the Interim Greenbelt Board, afterward Jan served as Chair of both the Greenbelt Foundation and the Greenbelt Fund. A Master of Arts graduate from the Institute for Environment Studies at the University of Toronto, today she is Vice President of justenvironment, a boutique consulting firm.
