Author / Herman Wilton-Siegel

Educated at the University of Toronto, Oxford University, Dalhousie Law School and Harvard Law School, the Hon. Herman J. Wilton-Siegel practiced law at Torys from 1975 to 2000. From late 1987 to 1990, during a sabbatical, he acted as a policy advisor to the Hon. Murray Elston, principally in his capacity as the Minister of Financial Institutions. In 2000, he became the Senior Vice-President and General Counsel for North America of Centrica PLC, the public parent corporation of British Gas, a diversified energy company. In 2002, he was appointed to the Superior Court of Ontario on which he served until his retirement in 2024. In that capacity, in 2019, he was also appointed the Commissioner of the Red Hill Valley Parkway Inquiry, a judicial inquiry called by the City of Hamilton. Since his retirement in July 2024, Mr. Wilton-Siegel has carried on a practice as a private arbitrator and mediator.
